Join our Envision Healthcare family in celebrating National Women Physicians Day! This day of recognition provides us the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of all women in medicine. We want to thank female physicians for all they do to help us provide the highest quality of patient care.

National Women Physicians Day commemorates the birthday of Elizabeth Blackwell, M.D., who, in 1849, became the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States. The day was first observed in 2016 to honor and advocate for women entering the field of medicine, a number that continues to grow each year.

Female physicians have been a cornerstone of our organization throughout our 40-year history, and our commitment to diversity and inclusion has enabled us to attract some of the best and brightest women in healthcare. Currently, more than 40 percent of Envision Physician Services clinicians are women.

“Today we celebrate women physicians and remember those pioneering women physicians like Dr. Blackwell who laid the foundation for me and my colleagues to practice medicine,” said Rebecca Parker, M.D., FACEP, Chief Medical Affairs Officer for Envision Physician Services.

“There is much more to do to support women in medicine, and as an organization, we are committed to expanding this progress. We are also dedicated to promoting and championing women into more leadership roles. We are excited to work on this in 2019.”

Today, we honor those who go above and beyond for their patients each and every day. Please join us in thanking all of our women physicians for their contributions and dedication to their patients!
