News | 1.9.2020 Leopoldo Rodriguez, M.D., FAAP, FASA, Published in Article on Patient Selection Criteria in ENT Procedures We would like to congratulate Leopoldo Rodriguez, M.D., FAAP, FASA, Assistant National Medical Director of Ambulatory Anesthesia for Envision Physician Services, for his recent publication in Otolaryngology Clinics of North America, a leading journal of peer-reviewed scholarly literature in the field of Otorhinolaryngology. Dr. Rodriguez, who serves as the President-Elect of the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA) and volunteers as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fla., authored “Anesthesia for Ambulatory and Office-Based Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery.” Due to increases in efficiency and lowered costs of care, the number of ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures in ambulatory surgery centers and office-based surgery settings has continuously increased over the past few years. To determine the proper facility and reduce mortality and readmissions after discharge, Dr. Rodriguez’s article explains the evidence-based medicine behind patient selection and clarifies why a patient meets the criteria for an ENT procedure in an outpatient setting. Over the last nine months, Dr. Rodriguez partnered with otolaryngologists from the Surgery Center of Aventura to complete this work and to determine each patient’s ideal surgery setting. Dr. Rodriguez also participates in Envision’s ambulatory chiefs meeting. Discussions and presentations held during this annual meeting have led the company’s Division of Ambulatory Anesthesia to become one of the nation’s leading providers of ambulatory anesthesia care. We would like to recognize and thank Dr. Rodriguez for his dedication to improving the quality of ambulatory anesthesia and high-quality patient care.
