“My mom tells me when I was five, I was playing with my baby dolls, and I said I wanted to be a nurse. My mom turned to me and asked me, ‘Why don’t you want to be a doctor?’ And I told her, ‘Boys are doctors, Mom. Girls aren’t doctors.’ She said, ‘No, no, no. Girls can be doctors too, and just don’t let that stop you.’ I went back to my room and played with my dolls, and I came back out and stated that I was going to be a doctor and take care of babies when they got sick.”
